The government knows Jesus better than Jesus

Cardinal wades into fray about Chick-fil-A - chicagotribune.com:

Chicago Cardinal Francis George has stepped in the ring on Chick-fil-A’s gay marriage controversy in a blog post, criticizing Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s statement that the fast food chain’s values “are not Chicago values.”
This much anyone following the issue probably already knows. Now we jump to the response by Chicago Alderman Proco “Joe” Moreno, announced last week that he would block Chick-fil-A's effort to build its second Chicago store in Logan Square.
“The Bible says many things,” Moreno said. “For the cardinal to say that Jesus believes in this, and therefore we all must believe in this, I think is just disingenuous and irresponsible. The God I believe in is one about equal rights, and to not give equal rights to those that want to marry, is in my opinion un-Christian.”
So a government factotum Totalist, who also said (same piece) that "he now occasionally attends church," is the unappealable authority on Scriptural interpretation now.

The most revealing thing Moreno said is, "The God I believe in..." Must be nice to have your own personal God who is so agreeable with your party's political agenda. Certainly makes things easier.
