Pennsylvania State University officials have given the iconic statue of the late football coach Joe Paterno the heave ho.

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. — The famed statue of Joe Paterno was taken down from outside the Penn State football stadium Sunday, eliminating a key piece of the iconography surrounding the once-sainted football coach accused of burying child sex abuse allegations against a retired assistant.

Being dead, Paterno is out of reach of justice, at least in this life. As for the others who committed and permitted the felonies to go on for so many years, they should be taken from Penn State to the State Pen.
