The U.S. Army is about to double its Howitzer range
Talk about being able to reach out and touch someone - the improved M777, 155mm towed howitzer will have a range of 43 miles using standard munitions. A high-explosive 155mm projectile weighs just under 100 pounds, of which 35 pounds is HE, the rest is casing and fuzing.
