New reports are coming in that actor Morgan Freeman, 71, a star of Batman Begins and The Dark Knight, has been injured in an auto accident near Rulesville, Miss. Another occupant of the car, not identified, is also reported as injured. As of now, Freeman's condition has not been released.
Morgan is an accomplished actor with a 2005 Oscar for Best Supporting Actor and three other Oscar nominations. His most memorable role for me was as Sgt. Maj. John Rawlins in 1989's Civil War historical movie, Glory.
Update: Freeman was at the wheel of a 1997 Nissan Maxima like the one pictured at the right. The car is reported to have flipped "several" times, injuring Freeman's right arm and shoulder. Police say there is no evidence of alcohol or drugs being a factor.
The passenger has been identified at Demaris Meyer, who owns the Maxima (or what's left of it). Who is Demaris Meyer? Well, that's still a mystery. She has apparently not been public figure. Until now, that is.

The local news in Memphis is covering this pretty well. Here is some late word, http://www.wmctv.com/Global/story.asp?S=8783679
Freeman is at The Med which gives excellent care for trauma cases.
