Two Wounded in Second Shooting in Two Days

By Anonymous

Tonight, Palestinians raked an Israeli car with gunfire along a West Bank highway wounding the driver in the hip, but who managed to get off the road covering his wife in the passenger seat with his body. The Jerusalem Post reports this is the second road ambush in as many days.

A large "dark car" overtook the victims's car on a hairpin turn on the Derech Alon between the towns of Kochav HaShachar and Rimonim firing a burst into the rear of the car, then overtaking the car, fired a second burst into the driver's door.

Reliable sources at the scene reported that the couple managed to exit their car and escape into a ravine until a passing motorist stopped to assist them about a minute later. The driver's wife was badly shaken from the incident and scratched up from exiting the car.

Arutz Sheva and Ynet News also covered the story.

I first heard about the incident the way many Israelis hear such news: someone in the family calls to tell you that there's been a shooting, they're on the scene, but "don't worry, everything's okay". I'm told that this is what the next three to four years will be like.

"Abba?"

"What's up, Shmuel?"

"Rav Moshe's been hit. He was driving with his wife on the Derech Alon near the big hairpin turn; you know near pumping station." [Rav Moshe's his rebbe from last year at the pre-military program he attends in Ma'ale Ephraim.]

"Were you in the car?"

"No, no; I'm okay. Rav Moshe called Rav Barak for back up as soon he and his wife were clear. [Rav Barak is his rebbe this year.] I was standing next to Rav Barak when he got the call so he told me to get a weapon and rounds, and come along as back up. He called the Army, then we responded."

"What happened?"

"He said a large black car overtook them, fired rounds in the back of the car, and when it came along side, he leaned over and covered his wife next to him driving off the road."

"Did it turn over?"

"No; but when it stopped he jumped out, grabbed his wife, and pushed her into the narrow ravine between the road and the pumping station calling us for help. A car came alone within a minute, noticing the bullet holes and blood all over, pulled over, the people jumped out shouting if people were okay. Rav Moshe shouted back they were okay but that he was hit. We got there when the Army showed up. Rav Barak wants me to go with Rav Moshe and his to the hospital to help out as needed."

"Very good, Shmuel. Keep me posted."

"Oh, Abba?"

"Yes, Shmuel?"

"I just wanted to let you know."

"I understand. Carry on, Son."
