Homicide rate continues to fall

By Donald Sensing

No rise in mass killings, but their impact is huge - Yahoo! News:

There were more mass killings - 42 - in the 10 years of the 1990s than the 12 years since 2000 (26), and "mass killings actually reached their peak in 1929." In the 1980s there were 32.

Overall violent crime rate has been steadily declining at least since 2000 (reported so many sources I see no need to link it).

According to the Bureau of Justice Statistics, "In the last decade (since 2000) the homicide rate declined to levels last seen in the mid-1960s." (The end date is 2008, the most recent year the BJS site has online with data.)
