Sunday morning, while America still rejoiced that Suspect 2 in the Boston bombings had been captured, this happened:
Source: The Sacramento Bee:Feds investigate shooting at Tenn. nuclear plant
Published: Monday, Apr. 22, 2013 - 1:23 pmNASHVILLE, Tenn. -- An East Tennessee nuclear power plant has added security patrols after a weekend incident in which an officer exchanged gunfire with a man who then fled on a boat. The FBI and the Nuclear Regulatory Commission are investigating the shooting early Sunday at Tennessee Valley Authority's Watts Bar nuclear power plant near Spring City, Tenn., about 60 miles southwest of Knoxville.TVA spokesman Jim Hopson said a security officer spotted a man near the bank of the Tennessee River, which is on the property of the plant but outside the plant's fences. The man, who was wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt, shot at the officer and struck the officer's vehicle. The officer was not injured and returned fire.
The Examiner has the story, too. Fox News' web site has the exact info as the Bee. NBC News has nothing. ABC News has the same story. CBS News has nothing. Nashville media apparently have nothing.
The plant itself seems not to have been the target. The shooter didn't shoot at the plant. He shot at a security officer. Was this a terrorist attack, as the Examiner tries to characterize it? I think that's a stretch. The suspect may be a leftie environmentalist whacko, though, which would explain why the story's been pretty much buried so far.
Curiouser and curiouser.
