It's been in the news with the new Congress just seated that there was an attempt to "drain the swamp" in Washington, D.C., starting with the Office of Congressional Ethics.
Oh, wait, that was in 2010:

Why on earth with the 2017 Congress barely underway the Republicans decided that this was the first thing to put on their agenda is beyond me. Maybe they thought that since the Democrats tried to do the same thing six years ago that they could promote it as a goodwill gesture of bipartisanship, thinking that the Democrats would applaud.
Which is of course the triumph of hope over experience.
But some things do not change.
For which we will see many more examples of proof.
