The voters are revolting!

Compare to today's article from The Times (UK) on the French election:

Don't you love that? "Mutinous voters."

The Times is an excellent Brit paper, but it is also a paper of the British establishment. So it's not a shock exactly that when the French people refused to re-ensconce the establishment at the helm of their country's future that the British establishment, having been shaken to its core by Brexit, would classify the voters as mutinous.

Mutiny is of course a crime that must be put down. So if you want to peer into the elitist mind of the European establishment - indeed, a near royalist mind - then this is a good look. The French election results do not reflect the sovereign will of the people. It is the effect of their criminality in voting the way the establishment thinks they have no right to do.

The presidential election was really what we Americans refer to as a primary, with mostly near-Left-wing Marine Le Pen coming in second and firmly-left-wing Emmanuel Macron coming in first by two points. Macron had never run for any elective office before and began his campaign only a year ago.

The runoff is in only two weeks and the rest of the European establishment is already getting ready to eat Macron for lunch if he wins.

Jean-Claude Juncker, president of the European Commission, and the German government congratulated Mr Macron, wishing him luck. He was also swiftly endorsed by Mr Fillon and Mr Hamon and is favourite to make it to the Élysée Palace. A poll last night suggested that he would beat Ms Le Pen by 62 per cent to 38 per cent.

François Fillon is a former prime minister who came in third at the polls and  Benoît Hamon was the candidate of the presently-in-power socialists, who took a mere seven percent.

As for Macron, he is a smart guy. But if he wins he is going to get rolled by the establishment and before a year is up he'll be firmly in their pocket.

Very amusing. People want a change from the establishment so . . . Dress a pro EU, pro multiculture, socialist, pro German, former investment banker candidate as ‘anti establishment’ and hope the voters are stupid enough to go for it. They will be!

Macron's mentor was former French President Francois Hollande, who appointed him deputy secretary-general in 2012. In 2014 he was appointed Minister of the Economy, where his record was mostly pro-business, perhaps a curious thing for someone who had been a member of the Socialist party from 2006-2009 (well, it would be curious anywhere but France). From 2008 to 2012 he was a very highly-paid investment banker at Rothschild & Cie Banque - note that magic name, Rothschild.

This is not the résumé of an anti-establishment candidate.
