France conducts first airstrike against IS target in Iraq - Big News Network
BAGHDAD - France Friday conducted its first airstrike Friday against the Islamic State in Iraq, destroying a target completely, French President Francois Hollande said.
Rafale fighter jets destroyed an IS logistics depot in northeastern Iraq, and the target was "entirely destroyed," Hollande's office said in a statement.
"Other operations will follow in the coming days," the statement said, without elaborating on the type of material at the depot or its exact location.
France is the first country to conduct air strikes against the IS, joining the United States as part of an emerging international military coalition against the militants.
